The Common Eligibility Test (CET) is a national-level combined competitive test that will shortlist candidates for non-gazetted, non-technical group 'B' and group 'C' central government posts at the primary (Tier-I) level.

It will be run by the National Recruitment Agency, a newly formed multi-agency group (NRA).

To begin, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), and Institute of Banking Personnel would conduct a Common Eligibility Test for central level positions (IBPS).

The test will begin in March of 2022.

Salient features of the National Recruitment Agency – Common Eligibility Test:

1. All candidates will use the same registration portal, and only one registration will be necessary to submit the online application form for the exam. This registration portal will be used to distribute any crucial notifications.

2. The Agency intends to administer the exam twice a year, with the possibility of scaling up to multiple times a year depending on the candidate's preferences.

3. Another important modification proposed is to conduct the NRA CET test in 12 major Indian languages, including English and Hindi, with the number of languages eventually increased to make it easier to attempt by people from all across the country.

4. The NRA CET test will initially include three central government agencies: the Railway Recruitment Board, the Staff Selection Commission, and the Institute of Banking Personnel. Later, more agencies will be added.

5. All candidates will receive a NRA CET score that will be valid for three years. Candidates must apply for higher-level exams such as Tier-2, Tier-3, Interview, Physical Test, and so on independently to SSC, IBPS, and RRBs after the test.

6. Subject to the maximum age limit, there will be no limit on the number of tries a candidate can make to appear in the NRA CET test. Age relaxation for SC/ST and OBC candidates would be applied in accordance with existing guidelines.
