Who should choose the NDA Exam?

After finishing or about to finish your 12th standard, you can join the NDA to start your defence career. The training at the National Defence Academy in Pune lasts for 3 years before students go on to get specialized training in their chosen wings.

The NDA exam is best suited for candidates who have a good academic background, mainly in Maths and Physics. Students usually look at NDA books that teach Mathematics, English and General Knowledge topics in depth.

When should CDS be chosen?

Those who are graduates and wish to join the Army, Navy or Air Force should take the CDS exam. It is meant for people who have already finished their degree or are about to complete it.

CDS has its own training schools, including IMA (Army), INA (Navy), AFA (Air Force) and OTA (for short service commission), unlike NDA. Women are also able to apply for OTA positions.
