All students who have passed or are appearing in the board examination of Class 12, or equivalent thereof, are eligible to attempt the CUET 2022 exam without any restriction of age.
It must be noted, however, that the students will be required to meet the age criteria set by their prospective universities at the time of admission.
Students must also remember to acquire scanned copies of their latest photograph, signature, and caste certificate which are to be submitted during the application process.
According to NTA’s guidelines, international students are not required to attempt the CUET exam in order to acquire admission in the Central Universities of India, and will be judged according to the existing supernumerary basis.
How to apply for CUET 2022?
Students will receive a registration number upon entering their personal details and contact address, which will help them fill out the rest of the form.
The application fee for CUET 2022 is either ₹400 or ₹800 according to the category of the exam they are applying for. Students applying under the PWD (Persons with Disabilities) category are exempted from paying application fees altogether.
What is the CUET exam pattern?
According to the latest guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, CUET 2022 will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and will comprise of 4 sections. It is a computer-based test and is conducted online in 13 languages.
The first Section is divided further into Section 1A and Section 1B, with the latter being offered in 19 additional languages.
Section A tests the students for their reading comprehension skills, and requires them to attempt 40 out of 50 questions. Students are allowed to take 45 minutes to complete this section for each language.
They can choose no more than 3 languages from those offered in both Section 1A and 1B altogether.
Section 2 consists of a Domain-Specific Test which includes 27 subjects, from which, the candidates may select those required for admission in their targeted universities.
Students are given 45 minutes to attempt 40 out of 50 questions for each subject. A student can choose up to 6 subjects, and each paper will be checked according to the system of negative marking.
The third section is for the General Aptitude Test which will test students for their general knowledge, analytical and logical reasoning, basic intelligence, basic mathematical understanding, and general mental ability.
Candidates will be given 60 minutes to attempt 75 questions from this section, and will be marked negatively for every wrong answer. There will be no repercussion whatsoever for every question that the candidate leaves unanswered.
Students can attempt the test in any of the 154 examination centers established across the country.
What is the CUET UG exam?
CUET (Common University Entrance Test) is an annual entrance test conducted by National Test Agency (NTA) which is required for participating students to secure admissions in Undergraduate Courses offered by 45 Central Universities and some State Universities of India.
A student’s performance in CUET, as reflected by the marks they score, will be the sole determinant of their admission into the respective courses.
However, their previous performance in board exams will determine their eligibility to appear in CUET.
All General Category candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in Class 12, and all SC/ST candidates should have scored at least 45% marks in order to be eligible for applying for the undergraduate courses.

Is CUET the same as CUCET?
Until last year, the CUET was conducted as CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test), which allowed students to qualify for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Integrated, Diploma Courses, and Research Programs in various Central and State Universities.
This test has been conducted regularly by the NTA every year starting from 2010. Now, students will be able to appear for a similar examination under the label of CUET.
Important Dates
The applications for CUET for the batch 2022-23 opened on 6th April 2022 and the last date of submission is 6th May 2022 (5pm).
Students will be issued their admit cards by NTA in the 2nd week of June 2022. The exam will be conducted in the first 2 weeks of July 2022 in 2 slots. Slot 1 will span 195 minutes (3:15 hours) and Slot 2 will last 225 minutes (3:45 hours).
