CUET, previously known as CUCET, has been the subject of many discussions during the previous few days. You should have a broad understanding of what CUET is or at least some preliminary knowledge.

As a result, today, we will go over all you need to know about CUET, including the difference between CUET and CUCET and who is eligible to take the exam.

What Exactly is CUET?

In short, CUET is an abbreviation for Common University Entrance Examination. A computer-based entrance examination will be held for admission to 45 central institutions in India.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will administer the examination in the first week of July, following the conclusion of the Class 12 term 2 board examinations. Applicants will be able to submit their applications during the first week of April.

Central University Common Entrance Test (CUET) is an acronym that stands for Common University Entrance Test (CUET). CUET is a redesigned version of the original CUCET.

CUET is compulsory for admission into central universities from now on. Other universities are also considering CUET marks for admission into colleges.

Who Can Appear in The CUET 2022?

The Common University Entrance Test, often known as the CUET, will be held for admissions to 45 central institutions throughout India. As a result, students in the 12th grade will be able to take the admission examination.

What Is The Purpose Of CUET?

Recently, we have witnessed a pattern of skyrocketing cut-offs for undergraduate courses at numerous central institutions, including Delhi University, which has been going on for several years.

According to experts, the CBSE, the ISCE, and the many state boards in India all have distinct assessment patterns, making it unfair for students applying to central institutions with various evaluation patterns.

UGC has made the changes to ensure that everyone applying to these 45 key institutions receives the same treatment; that's why a single admission exam will be taken. Students will be admitted to central universities based on a merit list prepared by NTA following CUCET.

Universities that are covered under CUET

CUCET or CUET covers several major central universities, including:

1. Delhi University,

2. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU),

3. Jamia Millia Islamia,

4. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

5. Aligarh Muslim University,

6. Banaras Hindu University,

7. Sikkim University,

8. Mizoram University,

9. The Central University of Himachal Pradesh,

10. The Central University of Kerala, among others.

What Is The Difference Between Cucet And Cuet?

All 45 core universities must now use CUET, an updated version of CUCET. The Central Universities Common Entrance Test, CUCET 2022, has been renamed the Common University Entrance Test, CUET 2022, to communicate its purpose better.

All UGC (Central Universities) institutions will now use CUET for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions, regardless of location. The CUET test would be for university programs in science, art, and commerce.

Paper Pattern

It will be a computer-based test (CBT) using MCS and based on the National Council for Educational Research (NCERT) texts. Incorrect answers will receive negative points.

It will be divided into three portions: Section A (the language exam), Section B (the domain-specific test), and Section C, which is optional and will consist of a generic test for vocational/open eligibility/cross-stream eligibility and will be divided into three sections.

Section A

A language test will be administered in Section A (language test), and candidates will be required to take one of thirteen language tests:

1. Hindi

2. Marathi

3. Gujarati

4. Tamil

5. Telugu

6. Kannada

7. Malayalam

8. Urdu

9. Assamese

10. Bengali

11. Punjabi

12. Odia

13. English

Section B (domain-specific topics)

Candidates must select a maximum of six domains from the 27 available to study at the undergraduate level from Section B (domain-specific subjects).

Mathematics, history, accountancy, economics, and computer science are just a few examples of the subjects. Several relatively minor disciplines, such as performing arts, agriculture and visual arts, and teaching ability are also included.

Candidates can appear for topics they did not study in school. The candidate's aptitude for the topics will be determined during the domain-specific test.

Section C

Two subsections make up Section C (vocational/open eligibility/cross-stream test), an optional test component.

During Sub-section 1, students will take a general aptitude test, whereas, during Sub-section 2, students will take a language test, in which they will be able to choose from 19 uncommon languages that are not included in Section A. These languages will include Chinese, French, Japanese, Santhili, Sindhi, and so on.

To conclude, CUET examination is a modification in CUCET. Previously it wasn't uniformly followed in all universities, but now it will be mandatory. The UGC has released the syllabus, and students looking for admission in UG and PG courses should start preparing as soon as possible.
