Ever since the news has been out that Class 12th students will have to go through a common university entrance test i.e. CUET 2022 in order to get admission in Central Universities, mixed reactions have been noted from teachers, students and parents.

While it might seem like a fair and unfair step at the same time knowing that this was the only batch that had to go through online classes due to COVID restriction.

So introducing a fairly newer concept of CUET 2022 at this time might cause students to go through a stressful situation. But at the same time it has made the process of getting admission into various central universities simpler with just one single exam.

Now while this might sound like a deal breaker for a lot of students out there, we want the best for you and knowing that you had already been dreading yourself for 12th Boards, it is important that you take a pause before you get into the drill of preparing for CUET 2022.

Before we jump into the difficulties of CUET 2022, let’s simplify it for all the students out there.

As you all might have already gone through the NTA (National Testing Agency) website, the exam will specifically be conducted in a computer-based test mode and will be in the multiple choice questions (MCQ) form.

The exam will have four parts-- Section IA (13 languages), Section IB (19 languages), Section II (27 domain-specific subjects) and Section III (general test).

Section II offers 27 subjects, out of which a candidate may choose a maximum of six subjects, while Section III involves a general test.

Let’s cover the sections step by step :

Section I covers the languages which a student by the time he/she appears for Class 12th boards is already proficient in 2-3 languages. So you don’t have to stress over the difficulty level here.

All you have to do is make sure that you practice the grammar section in case you feel that is where you lack.

Section II i.e. the domain questions will only be formulated on the basis of Class 12th Syllabus. So while you were preparing for your 12th boards, you have already prepared yourself for this specific section.

Finally the last section i.e. General Test which will be a test on basic aptitude and current affairs. This is the section for which no specific syllabus is out there since this is really a vast topic.

So all you can do as a student is just keep yourself updated with what has been happening around the world.

And moreover, while you are already getting confused with CUET 2022, there might be a possibility you wouldn’t even need to appear for this if you are opting for private colleges.

But incase, if you are going for Central University, you must know that "Before starting to fill the application form candidates are advised to read the Prospectus displayed on the website of the University where admission is sought and be clear about the courses offered by them, seats available, eligibility as regards age, passing/appearing in qualifying exam, minimum marks in the qualifying exam, relaxation thereof, reservation, admission procedure, etc before applying for the CUET-UG 2022, as Universities have their own specific requirements for admission to specified courses.

NTA will not entertain the corrections sent by the candidate through Post/Fax/WhatsApp/Email/by Hand," NTA in the CUET official information bulletin said.

So while there’s so much on your plate already we should now discuss some amazing techniques that will help you relax your brain –

1. Take a deep breath

Breathing is a natural phenomena that you don’t think about regularly, but it has been proved to calm the heart and the mind and help you slow down physically, mentally and emotionally.

Practice this 4-7-8 breathing exercise the next time you feel stressed, anxious or overwhelmed.

i) Take one deep breath, counting to four as you breathe in.

ii) Hold your breath and count to seven.

iii) Exhale as you count to eight.

iv) Repeat three or more times until you feel calm.

While you already focusing on the breath to ease the body, stretching the body will also help to relieve muscle tension, increase circulation and focus your breath.

This will keep you relaxed and alert and at the same time help you sleep better, too – all of which leads to more effective studying and exam performance.

2. Engage in a hobby

Hobbies help an individual relax from their mundane lifestyle. It gives a sense of freshness and improves mental health. When people engage in activities they enjoy, the stress level reduces leading to a better mood and lower heart rate.

It could be anything, dancing, singing, painting, playing an instrument or decorating your room etc. The options are endless.

When you concentrate on tasks that bring you a sense of pleasure and achievement at the same time, it can have a therapeutic effect on you.

3. Be kind to yourself

This is the most crucial one. You have already had rough couple of years due to COVID.  Pandemic, shift to online classes, loss of social life, and now change in examination pattern.

Even though the exam aims to simplify many things for the student community, the collateral of such radical changes will nevertheless be borne by the inaugural batch. Therefore, it is important to remember some points:

i) While CUET is not a test of life., similarly Board Exams are not everything.

ii) Appreciate your uniqueness as it can never be measured just by exams.

iii) Do not stress yourself and take care of your mental health. Do seek counselling sessions or at least have a circle of close confidantes, with whom you can share your emotions.

iv) If you feel overwhelmed, just remember that you need to take one step at a time. Do not worry much about the future.

v) Give yourself space to get accustomed with new change.

With these words, we end this guide. Hope that this will bring some peace to you.

All the best in your future endeavors. Happy learning!!
