EXAM PATTERN AND MARKING SCHEME
It is very important for all the candidates appearing for CUET 2022 to know the pattern of the examination. The duration of the examination is of 2 hours. It contains 100 multiple-choice questions. One correct attempt will provide 1 mark while an incorrect attempt will fetch a -0.25 mark.
It consists of two sections. It is divided into two sections (Section A and Section B). Section A consists of 25 questions (General aptitude) and Section B consists of 75 questions (Domain knowledge).
The common universities entrance test will be held in 13 different languages which are English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Odiya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi and Urdu. The candidates can appear in the subjects in which they opted for 12th.
The merit of the examination will be evaluated based on a combination of those subjects.
Why CUET ?
Now the question is, when the admission process was purely based on class 12th marks, why there was a need for CUET?
FIrst of all, one of the most important reasons behind it is the neck-to-neck competition among the students for the cut-offs, right?
In this cut-off race,it's possible that most talented brains get behind from taking admission to prestigious central universities, may be due resources or due to other factors.
Students pass their 12th class from various boards, and all the boards have a different pattern of evaluation that makes it unfair for the students to get admission to renowned universities.
Therefore, to end this disparity among the students, CUET has been introduced.
This year, it will be conducted for the first time in the country. Therefore, everyone is eagerly waiting for how it will turn out to be.
What will be the syllabus for CUET?
UGC has not published any new or specific syllabus for CUET. UGC has made it clear that all the questions asked in the entrance exam will be based on the NCERT syllabus taught to the students in class 12th.
It has created a lot of havoc among others because NCERT is only prescribed by the CBSE board.
Therefore, this will be unfair to the students from other state boards.
But, there is no further update from the UGC for the same. So, for now, students must stick to the NCERT for CUET 2022.
Good Luck!
