CAT (Common Admission Test) is an annual computer-based exam that is used to gain admission to graduate management courses. The Exam happens once a year on the last Sunday of November, and the results are out in January. CAT is a business aptitude test and the difficulty level is from moderate to high. CAT is the National Level Entrance Exam to get admission into the IIMs and top B Schools. CAT is the minimum eligibility criteria.

The Exam consists of 3 sections - VARC Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, DILR Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. Each section is timed for 40 minutes, which makes a total of 2 hours. The Exam consists of MCQ and non-MCQ questions. The eligibility criteria for the Exam is a Bachelor's degree with 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for reserved categories). For every correct answer, the candidate gets 3 marks, and for every wrong answer, -1 is deducted. For non-MCQ questions, there is no negative marking.

2- Know Each Section - VARC which consists of vocabulary, grammar and reading comprehension. DILR is considered to be a slightly tougher section than the other two sections. It consists of topics like blood relations, clocks, bar graphs, seating arrangement, data interpretation puzzles and data sufficiency. Last but not least comes the QA section Quantitative Aptitude (QA) section. It consists of algebra, arithmetic, advanced mathematics and geometry.
