CAT Exam 2022: For appearing in the CAT (Common Admission Test) exam 2022, a candidate must be eligible for the exam according to the eligibility criteria set for the CAT exam 2022.

Following the success of the CAT 2021, which was hosted by IIM Indore, the CAT Exam 2022 will be hosted by one of the prestigious IIMs.

The CAT Exam 2022 eligibility is generally not changed significantly by any of the IIMs in order to allow the greatest number of candidates to take the exam.

This also implies that the more deserving candidates will be able to advance to the next round.

Another reason for this relatively prudent strategy is that the institutes have a tie-up to the CAT Exam Eligibility Criteria in the form of the individual institutes' Eligibility Criteria.

The official website for CAT exam 2022 has released the following eligibility criteria along with their CAT exam 2022 notification.

There are the following terms in which the eligibility of a candidate gets measures for the CAT exam 2022.

1. CAT exam 2022 eligibility in terms of educational qualification

2. Eligibility for the CAT exam for final-year graduate students

3. Criteria for CAT exam eligibility for students with backlogs

4. CAT exam eligibility and reservation information

5. There is no age limit for the candidates applying for the CAT exam.

CAT exam 2022 eligibility in terms of educational qualification:

1. To be Eligible for the CAT Exam, the candidate must have completed their Bachelor's degree with at least a 50% grade point average (for General Category and for candidates from the NC-OBC caste).

The essential percentage for the SC/ST and Differently Abled (DA) candidates is 45 percent.

2. The University that bestowed the Engineering degree (BE/B.Tech) must be recognized by the MHRD/AICTE) and the University granted the Bachelor's degree must be recognized by UGC in order for year's the degree to be counted.

3. If the University awards grades or CGPA instead of marks, the University's conversion factor must be used.

If the University does not specify a conversion factor, the CGPA must be converted into a percentage by direct conversion, which means dividing the CGPA obtained by the probably highest CGPA and multiplying the outcome by 100.

4. Candidates who have attained their professional degrees with a grade point average of more than 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwD) are also eligible for CAT.

Eligibility for the CAT Exam for Final-Year Students

The eligibility for the CAT Exam is a common concern among final-year students planning to take the exam.

Final-year students of all Bachelor's degrees are welcome to take the CAT exam, provided they have completed their Bachelor's degree with the required percentage (45 percent or 50 percent ).

If a candidate is unable to complete their Bachelor's degree with the required percentage, their results in successive admission processes will be null and void.

Important Note: Candidates who are in their final year in 2022 (graduating in 2022 or 2023) must have a promotion/pass certificate from the previous year to be eligible to take the CAT exam 2022.

The minimum percentage of marks in the undergraduate course has been waived for candidates who graduated in 2021 or 2022.

Criteria for CAT eligibility for students with backlogs

It must be cited that the official IIM admission policy does not assert that a candidate with backlogs is not eligible to take the CAT exam.

As a result, any candidate who has a backlog in their final year of graduation is eligible to apply for the CAT exam and complete the registration process. For more information, go to CAT exam Registration With Backlogs.

CAT eligibility and reservation information

The IIMs (Indian Institute of Management) constitute certain reservations for different categories of candidates applying for the CAT exam 2022. The reservation percentage for their different categories are given below.

1. For Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%

2. For Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5%

3. For Non-creamy Other Backward Caste (NC-OBC): 27%

4. Economical Weaker Section (EWS): up to 10%
