In this article we’d be talking about the 4 sections that have been mentioned for CUET 2022 and how after developing an understanding about them would act as a great opportunity for every student out there.
We will also go through some pointers that would ensure that you score the highest by focusing on the right subjects.
CUET (UG) – 2022 consist of 4 sections. Let’s talk about the sections one by one :
Section I (LANGUAGE) : Section IA and Section IB
There are 13 different languages in Section I whereas in Section IB there are 20 Languages.40 questions out of 50 in each language needs to be attempted.
The questions will be in the form of MCQ and students will be given 45 Minutes for each Languages. Language section will be tested through reading comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary and Narrative, Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary).
The Tests (other than “Language” Test) are offered in 13 languages i.e. Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
A candidate is required to choose one of the specified languages as the medium of the paper, as per desired University’s eligibility criteria, while applying.
Section II - Domain
There are 27 Domains specific subjects being offered under this Section.
A candidate may choose a maximum of Six (06) Domains as desired by the applicable University/ Universities. 40 questions out of 50 needs to be attempted in each subject. 45 Minutes for each Domain Specific Subjects will be provided.
The candidate must choose a maximum of 6 subjects from a total of 27 subjects. The MCQs will be based on syllabus given on NTA website.

The question paper in respect of the Domain Specific Subjects and the General Test, will be bi-lingual, i.e., it will be in the medium (one of the 13 languages) opted by the candidate and in English.
In case of any discrepancy in translation, English version shall be pursued except for “Language” Tests (Section 1A & 1B).
Section III -General Test
The right tip for this section would be to keep up with the current affairs: Since the General test of CUET 2022 will be covering topics such as general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, statistics, quantitative reasoning etc.
Logical and analytical reasoning are also part of this section. 60 questions out of 75 needs to be attempted.
Important notes regarding CUET 2022
A Candidate is allowed to take a maximum of 09 Tests in following manner:
a) Maximum of 02 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 06 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III. OR v Maximum of 03 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 05 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III.
b) Considering that candidates from different States/Boards would be applying for CUET (UG)-2022, NTA has decided to provide choice in all Sections of question papers, however, the total number of questions to be attempted will remain the same.
c) For choosing Languages, domain specific Subjects and General Test the Candidate MUST refer to requirements of his/her intended University as choices should match the requirements of the University.
d) The CUET 2022 exam will be conducted in online mode in the month of July as Computer Based test-CBT.
Now here are some tips that would help a student to score better by focusing on the right subjects:
1. Keep up with the current affairs:
Since this is really a vast field a student must try his level best to stay updated with all the current affairs.
As you all know that the General test of CUET 2022 will cover a wide range of topics including general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, statistics, quantitative reasoning, Logical and analytical reasoning.
It is best for any student to cover these topics as much as possible.
2. Choose the Language in which you are proficient:
This section aims to test the literary aptitude and vocabulary of the student. While you choose a language that you are already good at, it would be really beneficial for you.
The language section will primarily include reading comprehension based on factual and literary passages. So go though sample papers that would help you get better in this segment.
3. Attempt MCQ problems from the NCERT textbooks of various difficulty levels:
This would help a student prepare better and create a sense of understanding about CUET 2022.
4. Utilize the question banks that is available online as well as offline for student all over the country:
This will help students to boost their memory and you will be able to cover the syllabus chapter wise and topic wise for extensive exam preparation.
5. Know the basic ideas of the subject:
Since the domain section questions are at a 12th-grade level of difficulty. Students having studied Class XII Board syllabus would be able to do well in CUET (UG)–2022.
Knowing the basics you’ve chosen will help you gain more points in this area. So keep working on the syllabus that you have already studies and do revision as much as possible.
6. Self evaluate the question samples:
This would help you to manage time according to the actual test of CUET 2022. Set aside time each day to focus on the subjects you need to learn. This will help you to focus on subjects that need your immediate attention.
