This is not the case for Class 12. It is compulsory to clear all the six subjects for one to be awarded a pass certificate from the CBSE board. This applies to both compulsory and optional courses selected by the student in class.
The minimum pass mark for each subject is 33% while the minimum pass mark in the aggregate is 40%, this is in respect of the Class 12 exam.
