Is there Negative Marking in CUET Exam?

The Common University Entrance Test is the national entrance test for admission into undergraduate, post-graduate, and research programme courses. It happens once a year at multiple locations in the country. The 2-hour exam consists of Multiple choice questions. The candidate is tested on their subject knowledge and logical ability. There are 100 questions to answer depending on the subjects of the course one has applied for. 

The CUET Exam has negative markings. For every right answer, you get 5 Marks; for every wrong answer, 1 Mark is deducted; and for every unattempted answer, 0 marks are given. The question paper is divided into four parts - Section IA, Section IB, Section II, and Section III. Part A consists of questions from Logical Reasoning, English Language, and Mathematical Aptitude. The exam is conducted in 3 slots. The exam is timed for 120 minutes for the first 2 slots and 180 minutes for the last slot. The CUET Exam includes a Language Test, a specific Test and a General Test.

Section IA of CUET consists of the language test. Meanwhile, there are 13 languages in the language test. It consists of 50 questions, out of which all 50 need to be answered. CUET examines the linguistic abilities of a candidate through reading comprehension questions, which are based on literary, narrative, vocabulary, etc.

Section IB of CUET has 50 questions, out of which 40 need to be answered. 

Section II tests the domain knowledge of the candidate. Out of 50 questions, 40 need to be answered. The MCQ questions are based on the Class XII NCERT Syllabus.

Section III of CUET is optional for candidates. In an hour, candidates have to answer 60 questions out of 70. The questions are picked from general knowledge, general ability, arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
