The Class 10 Social Science syllabus for 2024-2025 has been designed to promote an understanding of the major concepts in the field of social science. The syllabus is divided into four parts: History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics.
History: The history syllabus covers a wide range of topics, such as the history of India, the world wars, and the Freedom Struggle. Students will be able to learn about different civilizations and how they have influenced the world today.
Geography: The geography syllabus covers topics such as physical geography, climatology, human geography, economic geography, and environmental geography. Students will be able to learn about different places and their physical features. They will also be able to study human activities and their impact on the environment.
Political Science: The political science syllabus covers topics such as the political system of India, the Constitution of India, democracy, and the rights and duties of citizens. Students will be able to learn about different types of governments and how they function. They will also be able to understand the importance of democratic values in our society.
Economics: The economics syllabus covers topics such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, international trade, and money and banking. Students will be able to learn about different economic concepts and how they are applied in our daily lives. They will also be able to understand the role of money and banking in our economy.
There are three Social Science papers in the CBSE Class 10 board examination. Paper 1 is History, Paper 2 is Geography, and Paper 3 is Civics & Economics. Each paper is of three hours duration and carries 80 marks. The remaining 20 marks are for Internal Assessment and are assigned by the school based on class performance throughout the year.
The evaluation scheme for Class 10 Social Science Syllabus has been designed to assess the student's understanding of the subject matter. The scheme is divided into two parts: Part A and Part B.
Part A comprises of Internal Assessment and Theory Examination. Internal Assessment will carry 20 marks and will be based on two assignments. Each assignment will be of 10 marks. The theory Examination will be of 80 marks and will be held at the end of the academic year.
Part B comprises of Practical Examination. The practical Examination will carry 40 marks and will be based on the performance of the students in the laboratory work, fieldwork, projects, etc.
The social science syllabus for CBSE Class 10 has a weightage of marks as follows:
Total Marks: 100
Internal Assessment: 20
External Examination: 80
As per the latest CBSE Class 10 Social Science Syllabus, the total marks allotted for the subject are 100. Out of these, 20 marks are reserved for Internal Assessment, and the remaining 80 marks are for External Examination. The internal Assessment shall be done by the school and will comprise two class tests and one project work. The external Examination will be conducted by the CBSE board and will consist of two papers – Paper I (Theory) and Paper II (Practical).
