What CBSE Class 12 Accountancy Sample Paper 2027 Covers?
Paper Pattern in Brief
CBSE sample papers for the academic year 2026-27 were released on 21 September 2026. The paper is split into two parts.
Part A is mandatory. It carries 60 marks and is based on partnership firms and companies.
Part B is of 20 marks. You choose one option: Computerised Accounting or Analysis of Financial Statements.
There is no overall choice. CBSE has given internal choice in two 3 marks, two 4 marks, and two 6 marks questions.
Chapter-Wise Marks Weightage
In the sample paper, marks are given question-wise and not chapter-wise. For chapter-wise marks, refer to the unit-wise distribution in CBSE curriculum.
The structure still says a lot. Part A has two sections: partnership accounts and company accounts. It is out of 60 marks. Cash flow statements are in Part B: Analysis of Financial Statements. If you take Computerised Accounting, you skip these.
Types of questions to expect
1 Mark: 20 questions (16 in Part A, 4 in Part B)
3 Marks: 6 questions
4 Marks: 3 questions
6 Marks: 5 questions
The 6-mark questions are worth a total of 30 marks. Most are full numerical problems, so they determine your grade.
Journal Entries Class 12: Practice Questions with Solution
Why Journal Entries Decide Your Score
Every ledger and final account starts with an entry in the journal. One wrong debit or credit carries through every step thereafter. If a later step is wrong, a correct entry still receives marks.
Common Journal Entries Errors
-
Writing the debit and credit on wrong side.
-
No narrative.
-
No working notes for ratios and amounts.
-
Using the old ratio when the question needs sacrificing or gaining ratio.
-
Crediting Share Capital with the amount received, not the called-up amount, on forfeiture.
Try this: Solve each question before looking at the solution. Then, find which error you made from this list.
Partnership Accounts Class 12: Practice Questions with Solution
Goodwill Treatment
Goodwill is the difference between the value of the firm and net assets. Goodwill is transferred between partners when they change. Three ratios will do the job:
Sacrifice Ratio = Previous Share - Current Share
Gaining ratio = New share – Old share
New ratio = Old ratio + Share gained (or - Share sacrificed)
Hidden goodwill: Sometimes the question doesn’t lead to goodwill. With the new partner's capital, find it.
Partners’ Capital Accounts and Revaluation Account
Revaluation Account shows the gain or loss on the revaluation of assets and liabilities. Credit side: Assets increase, Liabilities decrease. Debit side: Assets decrease, liabilities increase. Share the profit or loss in among old partners in their old ratio. Then show the amounts in their respective Capital Accounts.
Retirement or Death of a Partner
Dues of a retiring partner = Capital + Share of reserves + Share of goodwill + Share of revaluation gain + Interest on capital. Subtract drawings and any loss. Add profit to date of death when a partner dies. Pay the amount to the legal heir.
The other partners keep their old ratio unless the question says something else. The share of retiring partner is to them in that ratio.
Dissolution of Firm
Open a Realisation Account. Debit assets (other than cash, bank and fictitious assets) at book value. Charge it with payments of liabilities and expenses of realisation. Credit it with outside liabilities and cash received from asset sale. Allocate the profit or loss to partners in the ratio of their profit sharing.
Fast formula table
Ratio sacrificed: Old - New
Gain ratio: New - Old
Goodwill share on admission: Sacrifice Ratio x Premium
Total firm capital: New partner's capital / His share
Cash Flow Statement Class 12: Practice Questions with Solutions
Operating, Investing, and Financing Activities
Operating activities: Main activities of the business, such as sales, purchases and expenses.
Investing activities: Purchase and sale of long-term assets and investments.
Financing activities: Obtaining or paying back capital and debts.
Interest received and dividends received come under investing. Interest paid and dividends paid are financing.
Items Students Misplace
Interest: Paid goes to Financing, Interest Received to Investing.
Dividend: Paid goes to financing, received goes to investing.
Loss on sale of asset: Add back in operating activities. Put the sale money under investing.

Class 12 Accountancy Important Questions to Revise Before Boards
Numericals that fit the 6-mark slots are Admission of a partner, Retirement or death of a partner, Dissolution of a firm, Issue and forfeiture of shares and Cash flow statement. Test each type at least twice, with different data.
Short theory questions test reasons and definitions. For example, why a Revaluation Account is prepared? What is hidden goodwill? What is the sacrificing ratio? Why is share forfeiture allowed? Answer each question in two or three sentences.
In case-based questions, a short situation is described, and you have to apply a rule. Choose the rule after reading the facts first. Such sets are in the sample paper.
How to Analyse Your Sample Paper Score
Sort Error by Type
Once you have marked your paper, label each missing mark as concept, calculation, or format. A concept error means you were applying the wrong rule. The calculation error was wrong, but the rule was right. A format error means you missed points on layout or narration.
Note Weak Topic List
List all topics where you lost marks. Put the reason next to them. First, correct concept errors; they’re redundant.
