Month-by-Month Study Plan for CBSE Class 7 Students

Month-by-Month Study Plan for CBSE Class 7 Students

A good study plan for Class 7 divides the period from October to March into four stages: Learn, Practise, Revise and Test. Pending chapters: October & November; First Revision: December; Practice papers: January; Mock tests: February & Light revision: March. The exact dates of exams are decided by your school, so check the date sheet and plan according to it.

Class 7 Syllabus 2026-27: What to Study

NCERT has released new Class 7 Books for 2026-27. Your syllabus is based on these books:

  • Maths: Ganita Prakash (Part 1 & Part 2)

  • Science: Curiosity

  • Social Science: Exploring Society: India and Beyond

  • English: Poorvi

  • Hindi: Malhar

  • Sanskrit: Deepakam (If offered in your school)

Maths needs practise everyday, so give it the most time; Science and Social Science have to be read and revised regularly. English and Hindi, reading, writing and grammar require regular practice.

Build Your Class 7 Monthly Study Plan in 4 Easy Steps

Step 1: Subjects & Chapters List

Write each subject on a separate page. List all chapters below it. The ones you have finished in school. The ones that are not ticked are your plan for the next few months.

Step 2: Find Your Weak & Strong Areas

Go over each chapter and mark it green (easy), yellow (okay) or red (hard). If you’re energised, start with red chapters. Mark green chapters for revision.

Step 3: Set Your Daily Study Hours

An average Class 7 student can study at home for about 2 to 3 hours on school days. Weekends add 1 to 2 hours. Pick a time and stick with it. Studying regularly is better than long random study sessions.

Step 4: Update Your Books

Use your NCERT textbooks as a foundation. Then add one practice book in each subject. A chapter-wise question bank helps you test what you learnt. For example, Oswaal Books has One for All question banks for the new Class 7 books covering Maths, Science, Social Science, English, Hindi and Sanskrit. Use one notebook for rough work and one for notes.

Weekly target: 3-4 timed practice sets across your subjects.

Tip: Don’t just count marks. Study why you lost it.

  • Use the last two weeks to focus on only your weakest chapters.

Weekly target: 1 mock test per subject, 1 round of revision of notes.

Tip: Give yourself one full day off a week. Sleep helps memory.

March 2027: Exam Time

Goal: Stay calm, revise lightly, do well in exams.

  • 15 days before your exams: Just review your notes and error notebook.

  • Last week: Revise 1 subject per day and go to bed early.
