CLAT Exam 2022, the top exam to get into national law universities and colleges for UG and PG law programs will not be happening on 8th May.

 

The consortium has announced that the extensive exam to pursue a career in law will be postponed due to the clash with Term 2 board examinations.

 

This was done to give students time to prepare for CLAT Exam 2022 after they get free from their board exams.

 

The Executive Committee of the Consortium of National Law Universities after an elaborate meeting concluded that the CLAT Exam 2022 stands rescheduled to Sunday, 19th June 2022 between 2 & 4 PM for both UG and PG programmes.

 

And the Last date for submission of online applications for the CLAT Exam 2022 will be extended to 9th May 2022. So here’s the final calendar of events for CLAT Exam 2022.

These are the things you should keep in mind,

1. With more time, you will have more time to practice, like solving more CLAT 2022 exam sample papers and question banks.

 

2. No clash with the Class 12 board exam means you can compartmentalize your preparation and focus on each one at a time.

 

3. You need to tweak your study plan and change your routine a bit to accommodate the added time to your advantage.

Changes in CLAT EXAM 2022

 

Several crucial changes have taken place in the CLAT Exam 2022. The Consortium of National Law Universities announced these after their meeting on 14th November 2022. Some of the other changes are,

 

1. The CLAT 2022 examination will be in OFFLINE mode.

 

2. There will be no upper age limit for UG Programme in CLAT 2022.

 

3. Change in counselling fee, General category candidates will now have to pay Rs. 30,000 as their counselling fee as opposed to Rs. 50,000 earlier, and the candidates from the reserved category would pay Rs. 20,000 as their counselling fee.

 

This is a huge change making the counselling process pocket friendly for pandemic stricken candidates.

 

4. Twice a year, A state boards had also made a big change in the examination pattern of Class 10th and 12th with Term 1 and Term 2 bifurcation of board examination, students are extensively engaged with their boards and pre-boards till the first week of June and will not get much time to prepare.

 

To ease pressure on them, the consortium had decided to hold the CLAT exam 2022 twice a year.

 

 

Exam Pattern

 

The Consortium of NLUs has also made significant changes in the exam pattern of CLAT Exam 2022.

 

Below you can find the details related to the structure of the exam, including the mode in which CLAT exam 2022 will be conducted, marking scheme, number of questions, test duration, etc.

 

As per the modified exam pattern, the undergraduate paper will have 150 questions, while CLAT LLM 2022 paper will have 120 questions. The duration will be of 120 minutes for both UG and PG exams. Speed and accuracy in the comprehension and reasoning sections will be of prime importance.

 

But overall CLAT exam 2022 will test the aptitude and skills that are necessary for legal education.

The five sections in the CLAT exam 2022 paper with approximate marks broken up,

 

1. English including Comprehension - 30 Marks

 

2. Current affairs and General Knowledge - 37 MarksLegal Reasoning - 38 Marks

 

3. Logical Reasoning - 30 Marks

 

4. Quantitative Techniques (Mathematics) - 15 Marks

 

 

Marking Scheme For every correct answer, candidates will be awarded one mark and for each wrong answer, 0.25 marks are deducted from their total score. 

 

 

Analysing CLAT Exam 2022 pattern

 

1. Paragraph-based questions - The exam will have a paragraph of 300-400 words in each section followed by 5-6 questions from them. paper except in the Quantitative Techniques (Mathematics) section.

 

2. Quantitative section: Instead of paragraph based questions, in this section short sets of facts or propositions, graphs, or other textual, pictorial, or diagrammatic representations of numerical information will form the questions.

 

3. Descriptive section: The subjective or essay writing section will not be there in CLAT UG and CLAT LLM. It has been dropped from the CLAT pattern for now.

 

4. Standard of exam: The undergraduate exam will be based on 10+2 standard.

 

5. Skills tested - The candidate will be tested on a number the parameters of their ability to comprehend, analytical thinking and legal aptitude.

 

 

CLAT UG Educational Qualification

 

To be eligible to give CLAT Exam 2022 a candidate must have completed or appeared in 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized university or board. Below are some other criteria for the exam,

 

1. For General/OBC/Specially-abled person (SAP) the candidate should have a percentage of more than 45%.

 

2. For SC/ST Candidates the percentage criteria is 40%.

 

There are two stages of CLAT Exam 2022 to follow before you get into your dream college,

 

1. CLAT Exam 2022

 

2. Counselling

 

First, you will appear in the CLAT Exam 2022 on the 19th of June 2022. After the declaration of the CLAT exam result on the official site of CLAT. The process of CLAT Counselling will begin across the country.

 

The complete schedule and process of counselling will be released by the Consortium of NLUs. Candidates should take note of the changes in scheduling and registration for counselling appropriately.

 

This time around, instead of three times as previously announced, the Counselling invitation will be extended to about five times the amount of seats in each category.

 

Only those candidates whose names / admit card numbers will appear on the Counselling List will be considered eligible to register for counselling.

 

An invitation to register for counselling by SMS and email will be sent to the candidates. And those who fail to complete the registration process for counselling will not be considered for the allotment.
