Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is one of the most prestigious exams in the country for students  who want to build a career in the Law Sector. 12th Std score is considered in CLAT during admission into a good college/university. The chances of getting into a good university increases when one scores well in Class 12th. 

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has established eligibility criteria for CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) 2024. The key factors which are considered during admissions are

CLAT Syllabus For 2025 Admission Test

1- Eligibility Criteria - Candidates must have finished 12 or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Students currently in Class can also apply for CLAT 2024.

2- Age Limit - There is no upper limit for candidates applying for the undergraduate programme through CLAT 2024

3- Minimum Marks -  Candidates must secure 45% as minimum marks for the General, OBC, PWD, and NRI categories to sit for the exam. While the minimum scoring mark for the SC/ST category is 40%

4- Qualifying Exam - candidates appearing for the qualifying exam, which is Class 12 Exams, are eligible for CLAT 2024. They must provide an exam certificate during admission. Failing to do so will result  in admission being cancelled.

5-  To qualify for the CLAT PG 2024 course, candidates must have completed their LLB degree (5-year or 3-year LLB) for a recognized university by BCI. The minimum marks required are 50% for General/OBC/PWD/NRI categories and 45% for SC/ST categories.

CLAT is an offline test that uses a pen and paper. It's a 120-minute test with 120 questions, which one needs to answer to score 120 marks. For every correct answer, a candidate scores +4 marks and for every wrong answer -1 marks. The questions are picked from subjects like English, Mathematics, General Knowledge and current affairs, logical reasoning and legal aptitude. It's a general aptitude designed to test your critical and analytical abilities. It checks whether a candidate has problem-solving skills for a high-level law career. 

How to Prepare For CLAT?

1- Understand the syllabus and take a printout and stick it on the wall of your study table 

2- Start reading newspapers, editorials, and journals. This will increase your reading speed and learn to skim through along with reading comprehension. 

3- Make flashcards of the words you don't know and write their meanings at the back. 

4- Read about legal terms and concepts, which will help you crack the passages easily. 

5- Start reading essays and blogs on legal issues. Read famous legal cases and their judgements. 

6- Brush up NCERT grammar and learn the meaning of big, hard words to give your best shot in the grammar section.
