Understanding the CLAT Exam

The CLAT exam is basically to test a candidate's level of intelligence across various subjects, including English, General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. Likely to say, that all these subjects and their topics are covered under the CLAT exam books, which they can get from the market. So, the exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, which further states that each question will carry one mark. Thus, 120 is the maximum score to be achieved in the exam.

What is the "Safe Score"?

Now, the question comes: What is the safe score that a candidate must achieve in the exam? Firstly, know that a "safe score" is not a fixed number but a range that a student must achieve by thoroughly studying from CLAT Books. For general category students, the score is between 95 to 105  to secure seats in prestigious universities. On the other hand, for NLU, the score is a little lower, marking between 85 and 95.

Regarding the reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST, etc.), a score between 70 and 85 will be enough to secure admission to some of the top universities. It's important to note that these ranges are based on historical data and it may get changed by the authorities.
