In this chapter, we study Reproduction. Reproduction, unlike other life processes, is not a requirement for human survival, however, life needs to continue on this planet. How do organisms function? In the Reproduce chapter, the cell involved in the process makes a DNA copy as well as other cellular equipment. Various species have different reproduction systems depending on their physical structure. In fission, many bacteria and protozoa, such as Hydra, divide into two or more daughter cells. They can also create buds, which grow into new people.
Some plants' roots, stems, and leaves are transformed into new plants through vegetative propagation. These are examples of asexual reproduction, which occurs when a single person generates numerous generations. Sexual reproduction is necessary for the development of a new individual. DNA copying mechanisms produce favourable variants for the species' survival. More variation can be developed through sexual reproduction modes. Pollen grains are transmitted from the anther to the stigma during blooming plant reproduction, resulting in pollination. Fertilization is the following phase. Throughout puberty, changes in the body, such as an increase in breast size in girls and new facial hair growth in boys, signal sexual maturation.
The male reproductive system consists of the testes, which produce sperm, the vas deferens, seminal vesicles, the prostate gland, the urethra, and the penis. In humans, the female reproductive system consists of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, and vagina. Sperm enters the female's vaginal canal during human sexual reproduction. The fallopian tube is where fertilisation takes place. Condoms, oral tablets, copper-T, and other methods of contraception can be used to prevent pregnancy. Important Topics that are covered in CBSE Notes for Class 10 Chapter 8 of Science in this chapter are Reproduction in animals and plants, reproductive health-need and methods of family planning, Safe sex vs HIV/AIDS, Childbearing and women's health.
