In a sudden twist of fate, India's central government has declared the NEET 2024 Re-Exam for those students who were given grace marks in the NEET-UG 2024 exam. The decision came after there were allegations of irregularities and unfair marking in the nationwide medical entrance examination.
These 1,563 candidates' scorecards will be cancelled and they will have the option to take the NEET 2024 Re-Exam again on June 23. The results of the NEET 2024 Re-Exam will be declared on June 30. This follows several weeks of controversies surrounding NEET-UG 2024 Result. The initial results, declared on June 4, were met with further controversy due to the awarding of grace marks across the nation, leading to protests and court cases, and the fairness of the entire process was being questioned.

The petitions pointed out issues like some students had "no defined logic" for awarding grace marks, and others had "statistically impossible" scores. All these anomalies cast aspersions on the examination process in its totality. Also, the petitions stressed a fair NEET exam by saying, "This field requires deep scientific and medical knowledge…cheating, using any unfair means to pass the exam can result in incompetence and endanger lives of patients."
Recognizing the gravity of this situation, the Supreme Court issued notice to NTA and Centre over pleas seeking cancellation of results. "It is not that simple…that because you have done it (held the exam) it is sacrosanct; the sanctity of (the examination) has been affected … so we need answers." These were some words spoken by judges while discussing conducting 2024-NEET exams.
