CBSE TERM 2 BOARD EXAMS 2022 NOT CANCELLED - SUPREME COURT PLEA DISMISSED, LEAVE IT WITH THE AUTHORITIES

Students from all over the country have filed the plea in the honourable supreme court for the cancellation of the board examinations and providing an alternate evaluation method for the assessment criteria.

 

Earlier, this plea was placed before the chief justice of India, Mr. N.V.Ramana which he later referred it to the bench of Justice Khanwilkar.

 

He is a judge of Supreme Court of India and the former Chief justice of Madhya Pradesh High court and Himanchal Pradesh High Court.

 

The bench of Justice Khanwilkar is known for passing the order for cancellation of the board examinations and issuing an alternative criteria for assessment of the students in 2021.

 

The decision was taken on 21st of February, 2022. Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar ordered that the CBSE board examinations will not be cancelled. He dismissed the plea recently by calling it as ill-advised and premature.

 

He further added that these petitions create false hopes. He called this petition as a publicity stunt and warned the petitioner.

 

He quoted "There’s news item everywhere. What kind of petitions are filed & publicity is being given? This has to stop. Don’t come up again or there will be exemplary costs. Let students & authorities do their job. You can’t PIL like this. Whoever has filed we’re saying for that petitioner," the court further added that by filing this petition in the name of public interest litigation, he/she has created lot of confusion among the parents and the students.

 

 

SOME KEY HIGHLIGHTS:

 

 

1. Supreme Court has rejected the plea for cancellation of the Board examinations.

 

2. The plea was rejected by the bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar.

 

3. The plea for the cancellation of the CBSE board examinations 2022 was petitioned by child rights activist Anubha Shrivastava Sahai.

 

4. Some of the state boards including Bihar and Madhya Pradesh have already initiated their states examinations.

 

 

PETITION FOR CANCELLATION OF THE OFFLINE EXAMINATION

 

The petition was filed by child’s rights activist Mrs. Anubha Shrivastava Sahai. It demanded the cancellation of the offline examination conducted by the CBSE for the year 2022 and other examinations like NIOS, ICSE too.

 

The petitioner requested to conduct the board examination in the same manner it was conducted last year. The main reason for this demand is the less conduction of offline classes due to Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

 

Students didn’t have enough education and practice for past two years to gain confidence for appearing such an important examination.

 

70% of the total classes were conducted online due to Covid guidelines provided by the government of India. Students from all across the country joined hands with Mrs. Anubha in filing the petition.

 

Students shared their emotions and views with the help of various social media platforms and demanded of cancellation of the examination.

 

In addition to that, students are suggesting for alternative way for assessments of the students.

 

 

CANCELLATION OF THE BOARD EXAMINATIONS. IS IT A GOOD IDEA?

 

We have seen very impactful changes in recent year due to pandemic. The CBSE board examination was cancelled for the year 2021. It was also followed by many states board.

 

According to the government their main priority was student safety.

 

There were several meetings held to discuss the repercussions of such an important decision made and how to counter the negative impact followed with the decision.

 

The cancellation of the examination has affected the admission procedure into majority if the undergraduate courses.

 

Students who wish to pursue other courses except engineering and medical like Arts and humanities faced a lot of uncertainty.

 

Some of the top universities of India heavily rely on the marks scored in the board examination for the admission procedure.

 

Now as the board examination have been cancelled, the authorities are forced to expand the criteria of admission into some of the various institutes across the country.

 

The cancellation has also affected the students who opt abroad for higher studies.

 

 

IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC OVER THE EDUCATION:

 

The pandemic has affected the whole country in many ways. One of which is the field of education. All the education institutions including schools and colleges were forced to shut down due to the Covid 19 outbreak.

 

This led to the transition of teachers and students to shift the education to online mode. Teaching and learning both done in online mode.

 

Around 250 million students were affected due to the closure of the schools due to the lockdown induced by COVID-19. The pandemic caused increase in number of dropouts, loss in learning and increment of digital dividing.

 

Different kinds of challenges were faced by both schools of public and private sectors.

 

The pandemic also challenged the process of the systems, including the tackling behaviour of teachers in such a crisis and sustainability of private schools.

 

However we can say that this pandemic has promoted the idea of digital learning throughout the country. 87% of the total students in the world are affected by the closure of the school due to the pandemic.

 

Many distance learning solutions containing various platforms, applications and resources aimed to helps the students and their parents along with the teacher.

 

Digital learning management systems were promoted and the system of online education prevailed in the whole country.

 

Due to lack of proper facilities like internet connectivity, materials for education and technology, it is difficult for students and teachers in the developing countries to cope up with the idea.

 

In some of the developing countries, classes are done with the help of radio, television and other online platforms. However, till date some of the students lack all the required resources in order to continue their education.

 

A vote pole was made up from which a conclusion was made that 63% of the students voted want to cancel the board examination and suggested alternate method.

 

Board examination is one of the important hurdle in anyone’s life. They serve as a perfect experience which will help you learn to tackle the pressure and tough situations and find perfect solutions for the problems.

 

Learning how to manage time and multitasking can also help one in gaining a different experience. They prove to be as a stepping stone for one’s glorious future.

 

Board examinations are one of the true test of merit and successful accomplishment of exam boost up the student confidence to another level. It helps us in admitting into various undergraduate institutes.
