NDA II Age Limit 2026 – Minimum Age, Maximum Age & Eligibility

The NDA II Age Limit 2026 is one of the most strictly enforced eligibility criteria set by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Unlike many other competitive exams, the NDA age limit has no relaxation for any category — not for SC, ST, OBC, or any other reserved group. Every aspiring candidate must fall within the prescribed age bracket, calculated precisely to the day of birth as recorded in their Class 10 (Matriculation) certificate.

NDA II 2026 – Birth Date Eligibility Window

For NDA II 2026 (exam on 13th September 2026), a candidate must have been born within the following window:

      Condition

      Date

      Born not earlier than

      2nd January 2008

      Born not later than

      1st January 2011

      This means:

      • If you were born before 2nd January 2008, you are too old and are ineligible.

      • If you were born after 1st January 2011, you are too young and are ineligible.

      • Only candidates born between these two dates (inclusive) are eligible to apply.

Understanding the Age Bracket: 16.5 to 19.5 Years

The NDA examination is designed for young students who have just completed or are currently in Class 12. The age range of 16.5 to 19.5 years reflects this intent.

      Age Group

      Eligibility Status

      Below 16.5 years

      Not Eligible

      16.5 to 19.5 years

      Eligible

      Above 19.5 years

      Not Eligible

The age is computed as on the first day of the month in which the exam is held — that is, 1st September 2026 for NDA II 2026.

      NDA II Minimum Age 2026

The minimum age for NDA II 2026 is 16.5 years. This means a candidate must have crossed their 16th birthday at least 6 months before the exam date. Very young students who are still in Class 11 will generally not meet this minimum age requirement.

      NDA II Maximum Age 2026

The maximum age for NDA II 2026 is 19.5 years. Candidates must not have crossed 19 years and 6 months of age as on the exam date. This cap ensures that the selected candidates complete their NDA training before they are too old to begin their officer career in the armed forces.

      Age Limit and Marital Status

Along with the age requirement, UPSC mandates that all NDA II 2026 candidates must be unmarried at the time of application. This condition continues even after selection:

      Condition

      Rule

      At the time of application

      Must be unmarried

      During training at NDA/INAC

      Must remain unmarried

      Consequence of marriage during training

Immediate disqualification and removal from the Academy

This rule applies to both male and female candidates equally.

      No Age Relaxation Policy

Unlike UPSC Civil Services or many state PSC exams, there is absolutely no age relaxation in the NDA exam for:

      • SC / ST candidates

      • OBC candidates

      • Ex-servicemen

      • Candidates with disabilities

      • Women candidates

This is a strict and non-negotiable policy maintained by UPSC to ensure uniform physical and training standards across all wings of the National Defence Academy.

Important Points to Remember About NDA II Age Limit 2026

      1. Age proof document: The Date of Birth mentioned in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate is the only accepted proof.

      2. No corrections after submission: Candidates must ensure their date of birth matches exactly at the time of applying. UPSC does not entertain corrections related to the date of birth post-submission.

      3. Age calculated as on exam date: The UPSC calculates age with reference to the exam date, so always double-check your eligibility before applying.

      4. Candidates appearing in Class 12 are also eligible if they meet the age criteria.

      5. Disqualification for incorrect information: Providing incorrect age information can lead to cancellation of candidature at any stage.
