UGC NET Paper 1 Syllabus 2026
Paper 1 is mandatory for all candidates, regardless of their chosen subject for Paper 2. It is designed to assess teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, and general awareness. The paper consists of 10 units, with approximately 5 questions from each unit, totalling 50 questions worth 100 marks.

UGC NET Paper 2 Syllabus 2026
Paper 2 is subject-specific and tests in-depth knowledge of the discipline chosen by the candidate during the application process. It carries 200 marks (100 questions × 2 marks each), making it the most significant section in determining JRF or Assistant Professor eligibility.
