Chapter 5: Thermodynamics & Kinetic Theory

Thermodynamics is the study of heat, temperature and energy. It contains the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics, heat engines and the kinetic theory of gases. 

This chapter provides 2-3 questions for each paper. Most of the questions are concept based. Students who have a grasp of the concept of entropy and a heat engine can answer these without needing to perform any complicated calculations.

Study Tip: Diagrams for PV cycles. Know and understand the four basic processes: isothermal, adiabatic, isochoric, and isobaric and be able to recognise them in questions.
