Big news for all the medical students in India, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the NEET UG 2026 exam after allegations of paper leak. The Central Government has also ordered a CBI probe into the matter.
On May 3, 2026, more than 22 lakh students had appeared for the exam. The re-exam dates will be declared soon.
What Caused the Cancellation?
The controversy started after the reports of a possible paper leak from Rajasthan. Rajasthan’s Special Operations Group (SOG) recovered a handwritten paper with 120 questions similar to the actual NEET exam, including about 90 questions of Biology and 30 of Chemistry.
CBI was brought in to investigate the alleged leak and trace how the material reached the students before the exam. Investigators are trying to ascertain if there was an organised network, starting from a suspected printing facility in Jaipur to six locations — Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Dehradun, Jaipur, and Kerala. “Already about 15 people have been questioned.
What NTA Said?
NTA said that in the interest of transparency, and after examining the reports submitted by law enforcement agencies, they have decided to cancel the May 3 exam and conduct a fresh one on dates to be announced soon, with the approval of the Government of India.
