GATE 2027 Score vs Marks: Understanding the Difference

Many candidates confuse GATE marks (out of 100) with GATE score (out of 1000). These are different:

Term

What It Means

GATE Marks

Raw marks obtained in the exam out of 100

Qualifying Marks

Minimum marks needed to qualify (not the same as admission cutoff)

The GATE score is calculated using normalization to account for difficulty variation across sessions. The score ranges from 0 to 1000.
