Changes in UGC NET Exam Pattern 2026

  • Both papers are conducted in a single 3-hour sitting (introduced from 2019 onwards, continued in 2026).

  • No sectional time limit — candidates can switch between papers during the session.

  • Two new subjects (Statistics and Forestry) added for June 2026, making the total 87 subjects.

  • Questions are increasingly application-based and in assertion-reason format, moving away from pure factual recall.
